About Part Price Guide

Part Price Guide is an independent price index for used OEM auto parts. We turn thousands of live salvage yard and marketplace listings into defensible price ranges, so buyers, sellers, repair shops, and adjusters can talk numbers with confidence, in seconds, not hours.

The problem

Used auto part pricing is a black box

Search “how much is a used transmission” and you’ll find forum guesses from 2014. Call three salvage yards about the same engine and you’ll get three numbers that differ by thousands of dollars. Junkyard prices, pick-and-pull counters, and online marketplaces all price the same second-hand OEM part differently, and none of them publish a market rate.

The information exists. It’s scattered across thousands of used-parts listings that expire, change daily, and never get summarized. Sellers guess, buyers overpay, and repair shops quote blind.

We built Part Price Guide to close that gap: one reference where anyone can look up what a used car part actually lists for, by part category, vehicle make and model, year, and condition grade.

How it works

Real listings, honest statistics

We continuously collect asking prices for used auto parts from online marketplaces and auto recycler listings, then normalize each one by part category, vehicle, model year, and seller-reported condition grade. From that pool we publish the low, median, and high price for every combination with enough data to be meaningful, whether that’s a used engine for a Ford F-150, a Honda Civic transmission, or a replacement headlight assembly for a Toyota 4Runner.

The median, not the average, anchors every price guide, so a few overpriced or scrap-value listings can’t distort the picture. Condition grades (A, B, C) get their own breakdowns, because a low-mileage grade-A engine and a high-mileage grade-C core are different markets.

Where data is thin, we say so rather than fabricate precision. Every guide shows its listing count and when it was last refreshed. The full process is documented in our pricing methodology.

Coverage

From work trucks to commuters

Guides are organized by manufacturer, so you can drill from make to model to year:

Who it's for

Built for both sides of the deal

  • Car owners: sanity-check a repair quote, price a junkyard part before you call, or find out what a replacement should cost versus buying new.
  • Salvage yards & auto recyclers: price dismantled inventory against the live market instead of gut feel, and grade stock the way buyers actually pay.
  • Repair shops & mechanics: quote customers on used OEM replacements with a defensible number backed by real listings.
  • Insurance adjusters: reference actual market ranges for like-kind-and-quality used replacements when settling claims.
  • Flippers & rebuilders: spot underpriced cores and parts arbitrage across regions.

Independence

No skin in the transaction

We don’t sell parts, take commissions, or rank sellers. Part Price Guide is not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer, marketplace, or salvage network. Make and model names appear for identification only. That independence is exactly what makes the numbers worth trusting.
